Course that fulfills this MLO:
- HCOM 322: Asian-American Literature
Reflective Narrative: This MLO required that I took a secondary culture course, a culture course other than Japanese. I decided to take Asian American Literature as my secondary culture course. While it is still an Asian culture course, we learned mainly about Chinese culture and even a bit of Chinese history during this course. We read a few different books during this course including the professors book as he is an Asian American himself. It was very interesting because we got to hear his perspective as an Asian American and hear about the Chinese culture from him. Since we read one of the professors books he was able to give us more insight into the book as well. I was able to analyze how Chinese people behave and think during this course. During this course I had the chance to work with a group the entire semester and create presentations based on the readings we did during the course. These presentations allowed us to analyze and think critically about the different readings and allowed us to better understand them.
