Course Description: Students work with the instructor(s) and WLC faculty advisors to research, synthesize, write and present their Capstone projects. Students will also assemble a Graduation ePortfolio reflecting how each MLO was met. This course is required for all Japanese Language and Culture majors and Spanish Language and Hispanic Cultures majors.
Reflective narrative: In the Major Capstone course we continued working on our capstone projects, which is the final project we must complete before graduating CSUMB. In this class we further developed our research skills through learning different ways of using technologies to find the answers to our research questions (MLO4). We learned how to use different databases from the librarian in order to get the best results for our research topic. Learning how to use different technologies and different online sources was a crucial part in getting my capstone project done. Another thing this class allowed me to do was to do everything step by step and not feel too overwhelmed with trying to do everything all at once. Throughout this semester we worked with our advisors with each step of the project to ensure we were producing our best possible work. We gave mini presentations during this class and were able to get feedback from our classmates as well, this I felt was important because other people can see mistakes that I may not. This project will provide something for me to look back on after I graduate and see all the progress I made with my Japanese language skills. Since this course is a continuation of JAPN 403: Pre-Capstone, we were able to continue to build on top of what we already learned from that class. The skills I developed during this course will also help me in future studies and research projects.
