Course Description: This course introduces students to the Japanese Language and Culture, or Spanish Language and Hispanic Cultures majors. Students acquire knowledge and understanding needed to fulfill Major Learning Outcomes for the programs, including literature, culture and linguistics, and to develop individual learning plans. The course examines opportunities in related professional and career paths, such as graduate education and teaching credential preparation.
Reflective Narrative: This course was to prepare us for what the Japanese language and culture major would entail. We were able to get insight into what the last two years of our studies would look like and what to expect from the major. This course was also a way for us to meet other students in the World Languages and Cultures department including the Spanish majors. Through this class we were able to start thinking about the courses we might want to take and how to fulfill all of the graduation requirements for our major. This course allowed me to be able to create this e-portfolio to document the last two years of my studies as a Japanese language and culture major student.
